The Machuga Flop: No Accident

Today we have a fun friday video that has become an instant youtube classic, but it is often mistaken as an accident when that couldn’t be farther from the truth.  University of Nebraska Alumni, Mike Machuga, was bowling for his first ever title at the 2005 Greater Omaha Classic against Bill O’neil.  After throwing the first 2 strikes and clinching the title, he celebrated in a way that no other bowler has done (on purpose at least).

“I’ve been wanting to do that for so so long. I’ve done it in Pro-Ams. I’ve done it in many many countries to celebrate the end of something” Machuga said referring to his now famous Machuga Flop.  So make no mistake about it, the Machuga flop was no accident, contrary to the hundreds of thousands of views that video has(video has no sound and is labeled as “Bowling Accident”).

A cool note is that what he did doesn’t even classify as a foul.  If you do not release the ball during a delivery it doesn’t count.  So who knew these funny videos could actually teach you something.

Wow, strong grip on the ball and good foot work, but that has got to hurt

Thanks for the comment Will! Yeah I’m sure he was feeling it in the morning, not to mention all the oil he must have gotten all over him. I think he would do it again though, he’s gotten a lot of press from it.
